Dear Chasey Lain...

Since I went with something perverse and pretty gay yesterday, I'm posting something perverse and pretty straight today. Well, straight-er. Here's several remixes of The Bloodhound Gang's ode to porn queen Chasey Lain (aka Tiffany Anne Jones). The irony is that Lain was slated to appear in the music video for the song, but she was a no-show and Bloodhound Gang frontman Jimmy Pop subsequently ranted about what a bitch she is. Also included are two mixes of "The Bad Touch" (aka "Discover Channel") along with a .mov of the music video, and a slightly different mix of "Take the Long Way Home." This is a combo of two of the long out of print German singles for "The Ballad of Chasey Lain."

01. The Ballad of Chasey Lain (The Virgin Mix)
02. The Ballad of Chasey Lain (The Flirt Mix)
03. The Ballad of Chasey Lain (The Whore Mix)
04. The Bad Touch (The Eiffel 65 Mix)
05. The Bad Touch (The Rollergirl Mix)
06. Take the Long Way Home (alternate version)
+ "The Bad Touch" Music Video (uncensored .mov file)

No, that's not cum on the scan of the cover, it was a smudge on my scanner. No, really. It's a smudge, dammit!

Erotica (Se)x-Rated Version

When Madonna released her controversial "Sex" book in 1992, it came with a bonus CD that included a drastically different version of her song "Erotica." Although the album version of the song was very dirty in its own rite, the exclusive version included with the book is pretty blatant, with perverse zingers like "This is not a crime and you're not on trial. Bend over baby, I'm gonna make you smile." The single was sealed in what was basically a silver ziplock bag that reads "Erotica" on the front -- sorry, since it's shiny, silver, old and beat-up, I can't get a good scan of it (it's like trying to scan aluminum foil!).

And for you perverts out there who want to see the book (not that I have room to judge, since I bought it 17 years ago), it's available for viewing at Madonna Online -- and yes, it's extremely X-rated, so don't say you weren't forewarned...

Jawbreaker... it'll break your jaw!

As requested, here's a 320 rip of Stephen Endelman's haunting score and the expanded soundtrack for JAWBREAKER! I couldn't find 320 rips of a few of the songs, several songs are elusive (The Friggs cover of Pat Benetar's "Heartbreaker," for example, doesn't seem to have been released anywhere) and I can't find the exact version of "Young at Heart" that was used in the film. But hey, it's a little more complete than the commercial version of the soundtrack...

Original Motion Picture Score
by Stephen Endelman
01. The Birthday Present
02. The Plot
03. The Cover Up
04. Fern Transformed
05. School Walkway
06. The Arrival
07. Vera Cruz Interrogation
08. Fern's Starfish
09. Fern Exposed
10. Nightmare
11. Jawbreaker
12. The Drive-In
13. Graduation
14. Young at Heart
15. Class of '99

Music from the Motion Picture
01. I See - Letters to Cleo
02. Volcano Girls - Veruca Salt
03. Yoo-Hoo - Imperial Teen
04. (Let the) Good Times Roll - The Cars
05. Beat You Up - The Prissteens
06. Bad Word for a Good Thing - The Friggs
07. Where Are We? - Jack Drag
08. Lollipop Lips - Connie Francis
09. I Think We're Alone Now - Jeff Conaway
10. Flow - Transistor
11. Don't Call Me Babe - Shampoo
12. Rock You Like a Hurricane - The Scorpions
13. Stay in Bed - Grand Mal
14. Water Boy - Imperial Teen
15. Rock & Roll Machine - The Donnas
16. Checkin' It Out - The Donnas

18. Trouble - Shampoo (appears in the trailer)
19. Next to You - Ednaswap
20. She Bop - Howie Beno featuring Cruella DeVille

A friend of mine initially thought the repetitive lyrics of Imperial Teen's "Yoo-Hoo" were "I eat glue." Now that's ALL I can hear when I listen to the song.

Krofftapalooza: 2009 TV Land Awards

Krofft fans, set your DVRs (or VCRs, if you're still stuck in the '70s) for the 2009 TV Land Awards, which air this coming Sunday, April 26th. It's no secret that Sid and Marty were being given the "Pop Culture Award" and a Krofft tribute was planned. My friend Ted attended the taping and reported that there's an 8-minute Broadway-style medley featuring a wide array of Krofft characters (from Pufnstuf to Wonderbug to Electra Woman and Dyna Girl) and celebrity guests including Cyndi Lauper, Barry Williams ("The Brady Bunch Hour"), Clint Black and Will Ferrell!

Labyrinth Remixes

Here's two of David Bowie's remixes of "Magic Dance" and a truncated radio cut of "Underground" from LABYRINTH! "Underground" is taken from a different promo, and I opted not to include "Within You" from the "Magic Dance" 12", which is the same as the album version.

Small Soldiers Pressbook

I've always wondered if the movie SMALL SOLDIERS would have fared better if it hadn't seemed like a big-screen infomerical for a line of tie-in toys. After all, it was a fun time waster and had a huge array of names in front of (Kirsten Dunst, Phil Hartman, Dick Miller, David Cross, Denis Leary, Jay Mohr, etc.), behind the camera (Joe Dante, Adam Rifkin, Jerry Goldsmith, etc.) and providing voices (Tommy Lee Jones, Frank Langella, Sarah Michelle Gellar, etc.). Ah well. Here's the pressbook for the film!

Superman the Movie Program

Here's the 16 page souvenir program for 1978's SUPERMAN... the movie that made little boys all over the world want to wear tights. Wow, that's seriously messed up.

And here's a Public Service Announcement a very crippled Christopher Reeve did in the late '90s in which he references his turn as the Man of Steel.

Pufnstuf DVD art

Here is the tentative cover of the American version of the Pufnstuf movie (as posted on Barnes & Nobel's website) which finally arrives on DVD on May 19th. Thanks for the heads-up, Mrs. O'Reilly! According to amazon, it's a widescreen transfer (hooray!), though no word yet on special features. I knew it seemed a little too coincidental that this hits disc a few weeks before the LAND OF THE LOST movie hits theatres, and the banner on the top proves that it's no accident.

And with a debt of thanks to John, there's a bunch of wonderful, new, high quality pics in the HR Pufnstuf Gallery!

Freaks & Geeks

On occasion, there's a composer who finds a niche genre. In the case of Michael Andrews, he's picked an unusual genre: "cult." With films like DONNIE DARKO, WALK HARD and STUCK ON YOU, and shows like "Wonderfalls," "Dead Last" and "Freaks and Geeks" under his belt, I don't think there's any denying that Andrews is a cult fan's composer. If I recall correctly, Andrews composed and recorded all of the music for "Freaks and Geeks" on instruments that were being used in 1980, when the series was set, which resulted in an appropriately authentic sound for the hilarious, realistic, touching, multi-career-launching teen dramedy.

So here's his (virtually?) complete score for the 18 episodes of "Freaks and Geeks." The DVD set features a wealth of materials and, much like "Arrested Development," the original music from the show can be heard unaltered. Unlike season 1 of "Arrested Development," the music's not all in one place -- each of the DVD menus features a different piece of Andrews' score. I think I got all of the tracks from the six disc edition here. I began titling these, but that soon proved to be a daunting task, so I went with the generic "Track 1," "Track 2" method of labeling.

An official version of the soundtrack, featuring a few tracks of the score and many songs from the show, is available to buy from Shout! Factory, the same company that's also released several DVD editions of the series. As always, I don't offer downloads here of stuff that's currently commercially available, so go buy it!

And make sure to check out the awesome caricatures of the freaks, the geeks and the teachers at
